REAL ID UPDATE

On the 20th of November Mark Lener and some concerned Kentucky citizens met with some legislators on the issue of REAL ID. What was meant to be half hour presentation and discussion turned into a 2 hour meeting. The presentation was well received and at the end of the meeting these legislators were presented with 5 model bills that will hopefully get filed into committee and introduced for a vote. If this is to happen Kentucky will most likely be joining about 20 other states in filing this legislation. That should send a clear message to DHS, the federal government, and the world powers that be, that the citizens of America will not giver up their Liberty and Freedoms without a fight.

The bills are as follows:

Direct prohibition of REAL ID
Purging SSNs from databases
Purging Biometric data from databases
State agency legislation regarding REAL ID, SSN, & Biometrics
10th Amendment Legislation

Shortly after a few meetings & discussions are had an action plan to garner attention and support will be implemented.

REAL ID UPDATE

It has been a while since I have posted anything on REAL ID, here are some things that have been going on. We have been handing out Stop REAL ID literature where ever we can raising awareness in the state. We have some bumper stickers available as well as copies of the meeting in Frankfort. We had a national media call in day for the Lou Dobbs Show on CNN to try and convince him to do some stories about the dangers of REAL ID and to have Pennsylvania State House Rep. Sam Rohrer on to talk about REAL ID. We have also reached out to State Sen. Perry Clark on the subject of introducing anti- REAL ID legislation in the Ky state Senate but right now he is in a tight race in his district so we have to wait and see after the election for the prospect. The Constitutional Alliance informs me that their will be anti-REAL ID legislation available for all who want it after a National Press Club meeting in Washington D.C. on the October 29, 2008 in which several organization and lawmakers will be present. Two such organizations include the ACLU and the ACLJ, I really hope this effort shines a light on the hidden dangers of REAL ID. I have also been able to obtain a copy of Oklahoma State House Rep. Charles Key's 10th Amendment Legislation; Norm Davis of Take Back Kentucky has tailored it fit Kentucky. Also the picture in this blog is a Banner that was made up by Adrienne Gilbert a member of TBK for us to have wherever we hold a public meeting/event; so thanks to her for that. I am also attempting to turn it into TBK web banner and have it displayed on the CA's web page.
